Welcome to the Department of Physics at the University of Basel! We're excited to have you join our research community — and the PhD Association Physics Basel (PAP) is here to make sure you feel at home from the very beginning.

The PhD Association Physics Basel (PAP) is a student-led initiative founded to connect, represent, and support PhD students across all research groups in the department. Whether you’re new to Basel or new to academia, we aim to create a space where everyone feels included and supported.

Here are just a few things we organize throughout the year:

• Rooftop get-togethers after work
  Casual evenings to relax and socialize with a beer (or soda) in hand.
• PhD poster & 1-minute research talk session
  A fun and informal event where students share their research, whether you're in your first year or close to finishing. With prizes and a friendly audience, it's a great way to get involved.
• Pub quiz nights
  Team up with fellow students and show off your knowledge in a lively and social setting: pizzas, drinks, and a prize for the winners included!
• General assembly
  Our annual meeting where we reflect, plan, and (re)elect the board. Subsequently, we celebrate with a BBQ as always.
• And many more events that you can help organize! if you have an idea, we can help you make it reality.

We’re here to help you settle in and make the most of your time in Basel — academically and socially.
